Movie Poster I hate

Image
I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but the movie poster for the movie "Duel" absolutely sucks! When you look at this movie poster, you don't even know what to think!! Now my Dad actually showed me this movie. I freaking loved it! Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. But without knowing what this movie is about and looking at this movie poster, you're just left guessing. Is it racing movie between a gas tanker truck and a little car? Is the gas tanker truck randomly driving people off the road for no reason?? You honestly wouldn't know. You're not given a lot to work with on the movie poster. So you're really just left guessing. I also feel like this is a very underrated Steven Spielberg movie.

Homework #5

After reading the interview with movie poster creator Dustin Stanton, it really made me realize how important and crucial it is to make a movie poster/teaser. You want to make sure the viewers view your movie poster the same way you do. Obviously you want to make sure that the movie poster makes sense with what the movie is about. I feel like this is one of those things where asking yourself: "Is this good enough?" could be good, and bad. It would be good, by everyone agreeing that the  movie poster is perfect, and doesn't need anything else. It would be bad, by making you think about what more you could've put on the movie poster, and if it is really done. Me being a HUGE video game nerd, could easily relate while reading this interview. Well, not me personally. But it made me think of cover arts for video games. Boy, has that changed a LOT over the years. Think about it, a movie could do good or bad depending on the poster for it. A video game could sell good or bad

Homework #4

After reading the interview with the artist "Montygog", it's really shown me how cool it is to put your own spin on classic artwork/drawings. I think it's interesting how one person's artwork can change/effect someone so profoundly. I personally don't really care for art, because I'm a horrible drawer but not everyone is like me. I think it's great if you're good at drawing and are inspired by a world famous artist! Drawing just isn't my thing, and probably never will be. As Montygog himself said at the end of the interview: "If everyone all drew Garfield, I'm scared to think about how boring the world would be." I'm happy the world isn't like this today, and that everyone is different and has an open mind.

Homework #6

The 100 Mega Shock: The Neo Geo Story              In the 90's, a Japanese video game company called "SNK" made their own video game arcade cabinet. It was in the 90's so arcades were still big at that point. SNK called their arcade cabinet the "Neo Geo Multi Video System", or Neo Geo M.V.S for short. What was so special about their arcade cabinet? At that time, one arcade cabinet could only run one video game per cabinet. With the Neo Geo M.V.S, it could run multiple games on one cabinet. So it saved arcade owners lots of room of having to keep buying other arcade cabinets. The Neo Geo M.V.S actually ran big cartridge video games that you could insert into it, and take out to put other games in too. In my documentary, I will teach and educate people about SNK's amazing brand of Neo Geo video game systems. Most people don't even know it existed back in the day. Now, the world will now about it.
